You
Not too long ago,
when I found myself alone.
There you were,
to brighten up my days.
I was thinking to myself then,
Could it be,
that after all this time,
Fate was looking out for me?
The fleeting moments,
we shared.
They meant so much to me.
Did it mean the same to you?
Could you be the one,
that makes even the worst days,
seem so much more bearable?
***
Some things were never meant,
to be together.
Like the little orphan bird
who longs for its mom.
I must ask of you,
before we part.
to look me in the eye,
and tell me why.
It is hard to forget,
something that I never had.
As dust turns to ashes,
I will forget.
But most importantly,
Everything you are,
changed the way I feel about my life.

University Life
Every undergraduate starts their university life on a fresh page. Our achievements in the past, the failures we have had just seem so insignificant. The only thing that matters now is graduating with high honours and an impressive resume. After all, are we not practical Singaporean students?
I have slowly come to the conclusion no matter how hard one strives, you'll never be the best. There'll always someone out there who's better than you. Everyone who has made it to the universities are the brightest this little country has to offer.
This is probably a sad reality for many undergraduates who have grown used to the As printed all over their exam transcripts throughout their schooling years. But yet it is only a matter when they too will realise what I have - that it isn't going to happen anymore. I was hopeful for a perfect GPA for this term, and I was confident of it. A few weeks passed and I was looking at a 3.9. Then it was 3.8. Now I'm just praying that I'll be able to maintain a 2nd upper honours grade.
The playing field is now level.
No longer will there be anyone who will offer to be on the other end of the bell curve.
Everyone else is just as smart as you, or even smarter.
